About Erin Hoffman

Erin was born and raised in Washington State. She started performing at the age of three when she sang the Silent Night solo in her preschool Christmas pageant. As a youngster, Erin trained extensively in ballet and jazz dance and performed frequently with Vancouver Dance Theatre under the direction of Pamela Kirkalde. She performed numerous roles in VDT's productions of The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and various original dance pieces.

As a teen, Erin began classical voice training with April Duvic, one of Southwest Washington's most respected vocal instructors. Erin also spent three years touring the United States with We The Kids, a singing/dancing troupe originally developed as part of Washington's statewide bicentennial celebration. With this group, Erin had the privilege of singing on the Disneyland Main Stage, at Washington State Governor, Booth Gardner's private Christmas party, and in the White House for President George Bush as part of the 1989 Fourth of July Celebration.

Erin continued her vocal training throughout high school, performing regularly with school, church and community choral groups. She also performed locally in plays and musicals.

Erin earned her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. In 1998 she moved to Carmel, California where she taught History and Drama classes, while working as a professional actor with many of the fine theatre companies of the Monterey Peninsula.

In Monterey, Erin studied for seven years with renowned mezzo-soprano Anne Hannon-Burleigh. Erin sang for four seasons with prestigious groups such as the Monterey Peninsula Choral Society, the Monterey Symphony Choir and I Cantori de Carmel.

In 2007 Erin relocated to San Francisco in order to pursue her professional acting career. Erin is currently serving her second year as the director of the Theater Department at the Marin School of the Arts in Novato, California. She has studied Shakespeare with L. Peter Callender, and continues her vocal training with Peter Meleitzke.

The summer of 2008 was a time of incredible growth for Erin. She completed the full seven week intensive Summer Training Congress at American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. At A.C.T. Erin had the privilege of studying with phenomenal instructors such as Fonta Hadley, Jessica Heidt, Chris Herold, Andrew Hurteau, Mark Jackson, Dominique Lozano, and Lynn Soffer to name just a few.

In August of 2008, Erin made her film debut California Tango with La Honda Films. She played the lead role of Fiona, a strong, independent woman whose unrequited love for Gaucho has her forever frustrated with the community of Central Coast artists that she serves. California Tango is schedule for release in late 2009.

Erin is very close to her family and attributes much of her success to their unending love and support. Her parents, Steve and Gayle, reside in Woodland, Washington. Erin has two younger brothers, Matthew and Clark. Clark and his fiancé, Kris, live in Tucson, Arizona; Matthew and his wife, Chunghah, live in Torrance, California. Erin resides in San Francisco with her boyfriend Brandon, a video game programmer for Nihilistic Software.

Erin loves to spend her free time outdoors. When she's not rehearsing, performing or teaching, Erin can be found hiking, cycling, skiing, or hanging out at the beach.
